Biography

Slave Chains is a Colombian band from Medellín, founded in 2020 by guitarists Andredy Rodríguez and Edwin Londoño. In its early stages, the group aimed to create a platform to express social criticism and personal perspectives on controversial contemporary issues, supported by a powerful sound inspired by genres such as Nu Metal and Groove Metal.

In 2022, the band welcomed vocalist Julián Arango and bassist Jeisson Martínez. With these lineup changes, Slave Chains entered a second phase, seeking a rawer sound. This shift is evident in the use of vocal techniques like growling and screaming, as well as an instrumental restructuring that brought them closer to Groove Metal and Metalcore.

In 2023, co-founder guitarist Andredy Rodríguez left the band due to relocating. That same year, drummer Steven García, known for his work with bands like Carnal Strength and his remarkable musical career in Medellín, joined the group. Guitarist and vocalist Andrés "Lucifer" also became part of the lineup. These additions brought significant adjustments and provided the direction the band follows to this day.

Slave Chains is known for being a Metalcore band in constant pursuit of innovative and contemporary sounds. Thematically, the band explores the realities of human experiences, both internal and external, aiming to foster empathy across a wide audience by addressing diverse issues, not only within Colombia but also on an international scale.

In July 2023, Slave Chains released their first EP, titled “Ego”, which includes three official songs: “Contraaque,” “Tiranos,” and “Ego.” This work was recorded at Dimisa Studios under the production of Santiago Mora, a renowned guitarist and producer. The EP reflects the harsh reality of Colombia by exploring social, political, and psychosocial themes.

EP: Ego

Ego is a three-song EP featuring “Contraataque,” “Tiranos,” and “Ego.” This work explores the control exerted by political and external factors that shape us into a predetermined way of being. It also reflects on how the "ego" itself can lead us to believe that we are not the problem, causing us to blame all external factors instead.

Full-length: Call For Resistance

This 8-song album highlights the resistance needed to confront the social and internal struggles faced by humanity, which are expressed as a form of slavery. The central question it poses is: What are you chained to? Ultimately, it invites listeners to embrace liberation and resistance as the path toward the march for freedom.

The album incorporates a variety of sounds, from ambient percussion to strings that enhance the atmosphere of the songs. With strength and power, Slave Chains debuts their first full-length album with their current lineup.
